It’s nearly that time of year again when we start to think about New Year’s Resolutions we have no intention of keeping. However, when it comes to your nails, we think sticking to your new year promises is worth it.
Our nails often don’t get the attention they deserve, so what better time to prioritise them and aim to meet your nail goals for 2023? Here are some New Year’s Resolution ideas to help inspire your commitment to looking after your nails. New year, new nails!
1. Prioritise nail health
We all dream of having long, strong nails, but the reality is that many of us battle with brittle nails that are prone to damage. Make this dream a reality for 2023, by taking supplements and regularly using cuticle oil to achieve stronger, healthier nails.
If you’re suffering from brittle nails and ridges, then this can often be a sign that your diet is lacking important nutrients, such as iron and protein. By adding supplements that include these nutrients, you can see whether it starts to have a positive impact on your nail health.
Combining this with good-quality cuticle oil is a match made in heaven. We recommend giving our Sweet Almond Revitalising Nail & Cuticle Oil Complex a go, applying daily for the best results.
2. Be adventurous with colours
If you’re somebody who usually plays it safe with your nail polish colours, then why not start taking a few risks and experimenting with new shades? You can be as daring as you want to be, but there is no harm in pushing your boundaries – you may be pleasantly surprised by the results and find your new favourite look!
Whether it’s red, yellow or glitter nail polish, don’t be afraid to hold back.
3. Don’t pick or peel your gel
We know it’s not easy, but this year you should really think about resisting the urge to peel off your gel polish. It might be satisfying, but it can badly damage your nails, as you’re likely to peel off the top layer of your nail with it. If you don’t fancy a trip to the salon, then make sure you use a good quality gel remover from the comfort of your own home.

4. Use a file correctly
How can you possibly file your nails incorrectly I hear you ask? Well, you’d be surprised. Filing your nails the wrong way weakens them and can lead to your tips being easily damaged. Make sure you file your nails in one direction using short, smooth strokes to tackle any rough edges. You should never file your nails aggressively back and forth!
Once you’ve mastered your nail file technique, you could even get creative with the shapes of your nails. If you’ve always favoured round nails, perhaps 2023 is the year to experiment with a square or almond shape.
Important: Make sure you use a decent nail file, like the one included in our Stainless Steel Nail File Intro Kit.
5. Moisturise
Last, but by no means least on our list is moisturising. It goes without saying, but this is incredibly important when combatting dry winter skin, so moisturising regularly as part of your New Year’s Resolutions nail care routine is the perfect time to start. People often prioritise the face and body when it comes to moisturising, but your hands and nails deserve some attention as well.
At Cuccio, we have an excellent selection of hand moisturisers to choose from, as well as cuticle oils to double up the protection and give your hands all the nourishment they crave. Why not give our Milk & Honey Hydration Essentials a go?
So, now we’ve done our bit, the rest is down to you. Make sure 2023 is the year for stronger, healthier nails. Keeping your New Year’s Resolutions is never easy, but by following the above tips, you’ll start to see a noticeable improvement and will never look back.Check out the Cuccio website to discover our full range of salon-quality products available for you to use at home.
